TATMADAW not only serves its national defence duties but also actively participates in nation-building, regional development and environmental conservation, said Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo at the second monsoon tree-growing ceremony 2026 of families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air).

The ceremony took place near the Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, yesterday, and the General grew a teak sapling on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that trees are being grown with the aim of conserving the environment, contributing to climate support, providing shade, and making a contribution to the national economy in one way or another.

Tatmadaw not only serves its national defence duties but also actively participates in nation-building, regional development and environmental conservation. He continued that military command areas, regiments and units also hold tree-growing ceremonies while families of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy and Air) have held the similar ceremonies 45 times from 2011 to the first ceremony in 2026. They also planted 210,825 saplings. This second ceremony will cover 2,400 saplings of teak, ironwood, mahogany and gum-kino.

He also emphasized that caring for trees after planting is even more important than planting them. He urged participants to follow the motto: “Plant for survival, nurture for growth, preserve for permanence,” ensuring that every tree planted survives and flourishes through systematic care and management.

Also present at the ceremony were Daw Nila, the wife of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Kyaw Swa Lin and his wife Daw Nang Kue Ku, Union ministers and their wives, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Ko Ko Oo and his wife, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Htein Win and his wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) Lt-Gen Tun Win and his wife, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, and officials.
