Myanmar delegation attends 6th ASEANSAI Senior Officials’ Meeting

MALAYSIA hosted the 6th ASEANSAI Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) yesterday to successfully hold the 6th ASEANSAI Summit of the ASEAN Supreme Audit Institutions (ASEANSAI), through videoconferencing.

 

The meeting was attended by delegations led by ASEAN Senior Officials from the 10 ASEAN member nations and the Director-General (Audit), and officials led by the Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Union.

 

Datuk Nik Azman bin Nik Abdul Majid, the current chair of the ASEANSAI, said, over the last ten years since its establishment, the member countries have been able to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation and discuss important issues to achieve the goals of the institutions. Afterwards, Head of ASEANSAI Secretariat Mr Bahtiar Arif presided over the meeting.

 

The meeting discussed the amendments to the rules and regulations of the Institution (draft), Strategic Plan (2020-2025), the responsibilities of the Knowledge Sharing Committee, and Action Plan (draft) of the committees of the Institutions for 2020-2023. The leaders and members of the delegations exchanged views on the legal feasibility study of the Institution.

 

The second day of the meeting will be held on 29 July. A videoconference was also hosted on 27 July by Malaysia to prepare for and support the 6th ASEANSAI Senior Officials’ Meeting. A delegation led by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Auditor-General of the Union attended, it is reported. — MNA
