BORDER trade between Myanmar and Thailand totaled some US$818.72 billion, as of 20 December, 2019, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
The country’s exports to neighbouring Thailand reached $558.64 million, while imports were valued at $260.08 million.
The current trade figures increased by over $112.88 million against the same period last year. Last year, border trade between the two nations was $705.84 million.
Myanmar delivers goods to Thailand through its sea routes, as well as cross-border gates. Sev-en border trade camps are open between the two states, including Tachilek, Myawady, Kawthoung, My-eik, Htikhee, Mawtaung and Maesai. Apart from Myeik gate, bilateral trade from the Myanmar-Thai-land borders increased, in comparison with the same time last year.
The country exports agricultural, forest and animal products, miner-als, manufactured goods and other miscellaneous products to neighboring Thailand. Its imports in-clude medicines, cosmet-ics, food and beverages, stationery, footwear, cloth-ing, machinery and other commodities.
Among all border trade camps, the Htikhee gate saw the largest val-ue of trade, with $414.85 million during the period, followed by Myawady with $247.55 million and Kaw-thoung with $81.84 million.
The total trade between Myanmar and four neighboring countries between 1 October and 20 December reached over $2.4 billion, increasing by $615.99 million over the same period last year.— Zwe (Translated by Hay Mar)
