YANGON UNITED, the de-fending champions of the 2019 General Aung San Shield, have formally signed U Tin Maung Tun as head coach on a two-year contract, according to a state-ment issued yesterday by the football club.
Speaking about signing up with the team, U Tin Maung Tun said: “I am very proud to be the head coach at Yangon United. I am overwhelmed by the trust invested in me by the club owner and officials, and I would like to thank them.”
U Tin Maung Tun has been with Yangon United since 2009 as an assistant coach.
He also served as the act-ing head coach and led the team to victory in the 2015 edition of the Myanmar National League and the 2019 General Aung San Shield, according to the Yangon United.
Taking over the mantle of the head coach, U Tin Maung Tun shared his vision for the team.
“I am pleased about our team recently signing new play-ers, including Kyi Lin and Maung Maung Win from Zwekapin Unit-ed. With my talented players, I dream of winning every cham-pionship. And I believe we could do that with all of our courage,” he said.
“As the head coach here, I would do my best in the AFC Cup. Winning the AFC Cup is what I want most for my team,” he added.
The head coach also said he would like to express his heart-felt thanks to fans for their sup-port, which has been a source of real strength for him and the team.
