THE finals and awards ceremony of the 2026 Regional and State Taekwondo Competition were held yesterday evening at National Indoor Stadium I in Thuwunna, Thingangyun Township, Yangon Region.
Myanmar Olympic Committee Chairman and Union Minister for Sports U Ye Myint Tun, the Yangon Region minister for Social Affairs, the director-general of the Department of Sports and Physical Education and officials watched the final matches.
Athletes from Kayah, Mandalay, Mon, Ayeyawady, Shan, Kayin, Sagaing, Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Bago and Chin teams received awards.
The best female athlete award went to Dee Myar from the Kayah State Team, while the best male athlete award was presented to Tun Lin Aung of the Yangon Region Team. The Yangon Region Team also won the women’s overall trophy with five gold and four bronze medals, the men’s overall trophy with seven gold and one silver medals, and the overall championship trophy with 12 gold, one silver and four bronze medals. — MNA/ MKKS
