CENTRAL Bank of Myanmar Governor Dr Khin Naing Oo received a delegation led by Mr Alexander Egorov, First Depu­ty Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, at the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

 

Both sides held frank and friendly discussions on strengthening cooperation be­tween the two central banks. The talks focused on enhancing closer collaboration to deepen mutual understanding, sup­porting stronger banking-sec­tor cooperation to facilitate economic and trade linkages between the two countries, as­sisting commercial banks in both countries, and organizing joint training programmes to improve the capacity of central bank staff.

 

Following the discussions, a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) on cooperation be­tween the central banks was signed, in the presence of the CBM Governor, by CBM Dep­uty Governor Dr Sanda Oo and First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus Mr Al­exander Egorov.

 

By signing the MoU, the two central banks will be able to enhance cooperation in ar­eas such as monetary policy, macroeconomic policy, and banking systems through open exchanges of views, closer collaboration in finan­cial and banking services, and the sharing of information. The agreement will also support cooperation between commer­cial banks in both countries in­volved in trade and economic activities. — MNA/MKKS
