CHINESE Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia has said that stronger efforts must be made on three key points to further strengthen people-to-people ties between China and Myanmar.
She made the remarks during the China-Myanmar People-to-People Connectivity Dialogue and the second-quarter 2026 China-Myanmar Media Exchange meeting, held at Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel on 26 May.
Firstly, she said both sides should engage with openness, transparency and inclusiveness, while expanding and deepening exchanges between the peoples of the two countries. Secondly, she said both countries should support each other with a spirit of mutual assistance and firmly uphold the fundamental objective of building a China-Myanmar community that shares both prosperity and hardship. The third point is to work for the benefit of the people through the concept of mutual benefit.
“To maintain good relations between countries, people-to-people friendship is essential, and to achieve that, there must be emotional connectivity between the people. To build such a bridge of mutual understanding, remove misunderstandings and increase mutual trust, it is first necessary to understand the true and accurate image of each country as it really is,” Ambassador Ms Ma Jia said.
During the discussion, participants exchanged views on creating accurate national images that truly reflect the realities of both China and Myanmar, promoting mutual understanding and trust between the peoples of the two countries, and continuing to preserve and strengthen the Pauk-Phaw friendship between the two nations. — MT/KZL
