OFFICIALS from the De­partment of Rural Develop­ment in Shan State (North), Tangyan District, conducted a field inspection yesterday in Namsan Village, Nangkhan Village-Tract, Tangyan Town­ship, to review the comple­tion of a village concrete road constructed under the Village Development Project (VDP) for the 2026-2027 financial year.

 

The project was imple­mented to improve rural trans­port and ensure better acces­sibility for residents. During the inspection, District Man­agement and Administration Committee Chairperson and District Administrator U Ko Ko Oo, Pyithu Hluttaw Repre­sentative U Sai Seng Sein, and District Head of the Depart­ment of Rural Development U Tin Aung Lwin inspected the completed concrete road, which measures 270 feet in length, 12 feet in width, and six inches in thickness.

 

Following the inspection, officials met with members of the village development com­mittee and local elders, urg­ing residents to collectively maintain the road to prevent damage and ensure long-term sustainability.

 

The project was imple­mented under the Village Development Project (VDP) using K15 million in govern­ment support funds and K1.407 million in community contribu­tions, with a total project value of K16.407 million. It was car­ried out by local villagers with technical assistance and close supervision from township and district rural development de­partments, and has now been fully completed, providing im­proved year-round transport access for rural communities. — Maung Khaing (Rural)
