UNION Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win inspected community-based dengue prevention and control activities being carried out across townships in Yangon Region during the rainy season.
Under the directive of the Ministry of Health, local authorities and communities are jointly implementing preventive measures against seasonal diseases through public participation campaigns.
During his visit to Mayangon Township, the Union minister observed mosquito larvae control activities, including “cover, pour out, change, and filter” practices, larvicide application, environmental sanitation works, and health education sessions aimed at preventing dengue fever and severe diarrhoea.
He also visited a community health service programme held at Mogaung Dhammayon in Ward 1, Mayangon Township, where specialists from Thanlyin General Hospital provided medical care under the supervision of senior doctors.
Next, he observed eye screening services using artificial intelligence (AI) technology conducted by the Eye Hospital (Yangon), led by its medical superintendent and ophthalmology experts. — MNA/KZL
