Kyunhla Township has successfully harvested all acres of niger sesame cultivated in the township, Kantbalu District, Sagaing Region this year. A total of 68,829 baskets have been yielded, according to the Township Department of Agriculture.
This year, a total of 5,315 acres of niger sesame were cultivated during the winter season and its yield rate was 12.95 baskets per acre. The Township Department of Agriculture provides education on systematic agricultural methods, post-harvest technology and agricultural awareness, according to an official from the township department.
In the township, oilseed crops are being cultivated using water from creeks and drains and underground water in each season. This year, a total of 35,280 acres of oilseed crops including peanut, sesame, niger sesame, sunflower and mustard were cultivated.
