Farmers in Thegon Township, Nattalin District, Bago Region, have cultivated 10,654 acres of summer paddy out of a planned 17,570 acres for the 2025–2026 season, aiming to enhance crop quality, ensure food security, and support agricultural development.
Various planting methods, including seedbed, drum seeder, and mechanized transplanting, are being used. The Township Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department is supplying water through dams, irrigation networks, and solar-powered pumping systems.
Major rice varieties grown include Yadanar Toe, Manaw Thukha, YSR-1, and others. Local authorities and agricultural staff are also assisting farmers by providing technical support and distributing fertilizers to help increase yields.— Ko Kyaw (Thegon)
