SHAN United defeated Mahar United 2-1 in the 2025-2026 Myanmar National League (MNL) season’s Matchday 21, which took place on 12 March 2026 at Taunggyi Stadium.
With this victory, Shan United moved within reach of their seventh MNL championship and a potential sixth consecutive title. The team will secure the championship if they win their final match against Hanthawady United. Despite Mahar United’s strong challenge, Shan United earned full three points with a winning goal by striker Sa Aung Pyae Ko, maintaining a remarkable 99match unbeaten run in league history, marking an extraordinary milestone for the club.
Shan United made some changes to their starting lineup, while Mahar United fielded a full squad, including foreign players. The opening goal came in the 22nd minute from Khun Kyaw Zin Hein for Shan United, giving them a onegoal lead at halftime. Mahar United equalized in the 65th minute through striker Patrick, but Shan United regained the lead in the 77th minute with a goal from Sa Aung Pyae Ko, whose tally this season has reached 17 goals, putting him close to the top scorer title.
Heading into the final matchday, Shan United leads the table with 55 points, just ahead of Yangon United in second place with 54 points.
