A total of 49,256 students sat the 2026 matriculation examination at various examination centres in Yangon Region yesterday, the first day of the exam.

 

There are 111 examination centres for the 2026 matricu­lation examination in Yangon Region. A total of 49,256 stu­dents — 22,231 male and 27,025 female — sat the Myanmar lan­guage paper yesterday.

 

“There are 111 examina­tion centres in Yangon Region for the matriculation exami­nation. Among them, students specializing in industrial, agri­cultural and livestock will also take the examination. The Yan­gon Region Government has coordinated with the security and transport departments to ensure that students can take the examination smoothly. For external candidates, relevant departments have arranged transport facilities upon pres­entation of their examination admission cards. We, the Edu­cation Department, would like to thank the Yangon Region Government and relevant de­partments for their support and guidance in ensuring that students can sit the examina­tion smoothly,” said Dr Cho Cho Myat Aung, Yangon Region ed­ucation officer.

 

The examination will be held at 107 examination cen­tres in Yangon Region, while the industrial, agricultural and livestock matriculation exami­nation will be conducted at four centres. Thirty-six students, 33 male and three female, re­portedly sat the examination at the Insein Central Prison examination centre. — Nyein Thu (MNA)/MKKS
