THE Ministry of Ethnic Affairs held its 10th anniversary cere­mony yesterday morning at the ministry’s meeting hall. Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Dep­uty Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, senior officials and staff attend­ed the event.

 

During the ceremony, attendees observed the five precepts and donated alms to monks led by Sayadaw U Baw Bana from Ottarathiri Town­ship.

 

The Union minister said that the ministry has been co­operating with the Ministry of Education since the 2017–2018 academic year to expand the teaching of ethnic languages. The ministry has also imple­mented translation projects, produced documentaries, or­ganized study tours and con­ducted vocational training programmes, including the establishment of a vocational training centre in Shan State.

 

The minister urged staff to follow civil service rules and fur­ther improve their performance before presenting financial as­sistance to staff members. The ceremony concluded with tradi­tional ethnic performances and a luncheon. — MNA/KZL
