Pwintbyu, 11 March
A total of 5,280 acres of paddy have been planted during this year’s summer cropping season in Pwintbyu Township, Minbu District, Magway Region, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
For the 2026 summer cropping season, Pwintbyu Township has set a target to cultivate 33,235 acres of paddy. Planting began in March, and to date 5,280 acres have already been completed, officials said.
To help farmers increase their yield per acre, the Township Agriculture Department is providing high-quality and certified seeds, promoting the systematic use of agricultural inputs, organizing farmer education and training sessions, and distributing technical pamphlets. Efforts are also being made to ensure adequate irrigation water for cultivation throughout the growing season.
A township official noted that expanding rice cultivation would not only help meet local consumption needs but also enable farmers to generate additional income by selling surplus produce, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.— Hlaing Win Lay (Pwintbyu Myay)
