THE Department of Forest notified rubber growers who have leased forest land for a 30-year term to make a timely payment of their lease within the set time.
Rubber growers who have granted a permit by the Forest Department in Thaton Township to grow rubber on Phapain, Danu and Kalamataung reserves in Thaton Township and Kalamataung and Mottama reserves in Paung Township are encouraged to ensure a timely payment by 10 March 2026. Late fee is set at K5,000 per year starting from the 2018- 2019 financial year. Those who fail to make payment within a 30-day grace period will face contract termination and legal actions. Thus, those engaged in private rubber plantations are notified to pay their lease payment before the deadline, the Department of Forest in Thaton Township stated. — NN/KK
