Myanmar border trade records over $3.13 bln in mini-budget period

THE total border trade value has reached over US$3.13 billion in over five months of this current mini-budget period, down over $2.34 billion, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

 

Until 11 March of this mini-budget period, the total border trade value amounted to $3.126 billion. The border trade value hit $5.47 billion last year.

 

The total border trade value, as of 11 March this FY, included $2.29 billion in exports and $829.6 billion in imports. Compared with the last same period, the exports earnings declined by $1.43 billion, while the import value dropped by $913.78 million.

 

Myanmar is trading with neighbouring countries such as China, Thailand, Bangladesh, and India. Myawady border sees the highest value of border trade with an estimated cost of more than $1.16 billion this FY followed by Hteekhee with $912.65 million and Muse with $616.66 million.

 

Myanmar mainly exports agricultural products, animal products, marine products, minerals, forest products, manufacturing goods and others while capital goods, intermediate goods and consumer goods are imported to the country. — ACM
