BAGAN cultural heritage zone in NyaungU Township, Mandalay was packed with the pilgrims on Fullmoon of Taboung which fell on 16 March, said U Than Myint Oo from the Shwezigon Pagoda Trustees Board.
Bagan cultural heritage zone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was crowded with the devotees. According to the list of Shwezigon Pagoda, approximately 3,500 pilgrims paid homage to the pagoda.
The majority of the visitors were seen in the famous historical temples of Bagan; Shwezigon Pagoda, Lawkananda Pagoda, Tuyintaung Pagoda, Tantkyitaung Pagoda, Htilominlo Temple, Ananda Pagoda, Bu Pagoda, Thatbyinnyu Temple, Dhammayangyi Temple, Sulamani Temple, Mahabodhi Temple, Sulamani Temple, Manuha Temple, Shwesandaw Pagoda, and other famous pagodas.
They also like to observe the structure, building and mural paintings of Khayminga Pagoda, Yinmanawin Pagoda, Wuttanahtaw Pagoda, Sulegon Pagoda, Thagyapon and Thagyahit pagodas precinct, Shweleiktu, Ingyin Cave Pagoda, Kyaukmyatmaw Pagoda, and other pagodas in the cultural zone.
They visited the zone by private cars, by e-bikes and with horse cart riding. A high number of visitors to the zone on Taboung full moon day allowed the residents to earn well. The pilgrims must strictly obey the health guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. —Ko Htein(KPD)/GNLM
