YANGON Region Development Affairs Minister cum Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay and Yangon Region Economic Minister U Aung Than Oo inspected the Hlaing River-Hlawga water supporting project implemented in the Rice Research Centre compound in Hmawby.
The Mayor said as this is the time to upgrade irrigation canals for summer paddy, in addition to benefiting 100 acres, it will also be able to supply drinking water to Yangon. He instructed officials to do the restoration work better than before as it passes through Hmawby, and inspected completion of presoil sedimentation tank at the project site, digging of canals, construction of basement wall, chemical dosing facilities for water purification and the completion of a sub-power station for the raising pump.
Afterwards, the Mayor and party arrived at the Mingalar Lake in Mingaladon Township and inspected the completion of a water tank near the spillway and drainage canal, levelling for bike way on the tank in front of the Khayaybin Road, clearing of weed by aquamarine and amphibious excavators around the Mingaladon Nursery of the Forest Department.—MNA
