THE Region and State Badminton Tournament was held yesterday morning at the National Badminton Court on Anawrahta Road, Lanmadaw Township, Yangon.
The tournament was opened by the Patron of the Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu.
Afterwards, the Yangon Region chief minister, regional ministers, officials from the Department of Sports and Physical Education, and officials from the Myanmar Badminton Federation greeted the participating teams.
The Yangon Region chief minister and officials watched the first-day matches of the women’s team competition, as well as the men’s singles and women’s singles badminton matches.
The tournament features 15 men’s events and 12 women’s events, with 235 athletes, coaches and administrators from Kachin State, Magway Region and Kayin State participating.
The tournament will continue until 15 May. — Bala/ MKKS
