The women’s national football teams of Myanmar and South Korea will clash today as part of the group stage in the third round of the 2020 AFC Women’s Olympics Qualifiers at the Jeju World Cup Stadium in Seogwipo, South Korea. Both teams have been placed in Group A for the qualifiers.
A pre-match conference was held yesterday on Jeju Island, which was attended by the coaches of the participating teams.
“I am happy about reaching this stage. And, we will try our best to advance to the next stage. We had two months of preparation time. Actually, team Myanmar is the weakest team in the group, but we will do our best. I have learnt the playing styles of the opponent teams,” said assistant coach of the Myanmar women’s team, U Khin Maung Htwe.
Meanwhile, head coach of the Viet Nam women’s football team said: “All the teams are strong at this stage. The South Korean squad are football giants and team Myanmar is a team which did well in the previous SEA Games.” The coach added that the players will play with respect for all teams.
Then, head coach of the South Korean team, Colin Bell, said that the team is ready for the tourney. The coach said that the team Captain Cho So Hyun has been injured, but the team is well-prepared and has studied the playing styles of the Myanmar and Viet Nam squads.
The match between Myanmar and South Korea will be played at 4.30 p.m. Myanmar Standard Time today. —Lynn Thit (Tgi)
