Kyaukse, 17 February
Winter chickpea plantations at plot No. (209-B) in Patta Village, Kyaukse Township, Kyaukse District, Mandalay Region, are thriving, according to the Department of Agriculture.
A total of 28,426 acres of winter chickpeas have been planted in Kyaukse Township. Farmer U Myo’s chickpea fields are systematically prepared when the soil is moist, and are planted using a scientific method to achieve optimal plant density per acre through a spreading system. The total cost for land, seed, insecticides, pesticides, fruit enhancers, and planting amounts to Kyat 245,000.
To improve farmers' livelihoods, officials from the Township Agriculture Department and related departments are conducting field visits to educate farmers and distribute seeds for cultivating high-yielding varieties of red chickpeas, such as Ye Sin (6), Ye Sin (12), and white chickpeas, including Ye Sin (3), Ye Sin (8), Ye Sin (11), and Ye Sin (13). These efforts are aimed at ensuring the success of chickpea crops and achieving good yields.— Thet Maung (Kyaukse)
