TO commemorate the 78th Union Day, the Myanmar Traditional Horse Riding and International Equestrian Competitions took place yesterday morning at the Myanmar Equestrian Federation’s racecourse in Dagon Myothit (North), Yangon.
The event, held under the banner of the Union Banner Cup, saw Myanmar Equestrian Federation Chair U Pyone Maung Maung and vice-chairpersons inaugurating the competition by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The opening day featured various equestrian events including races for Pony, Junior, Intermediate and Senior categories, as well as Show Jumping competitions for riders under 14 and those aged 14 to 18. The competitions also included traditional horse riding events such as the Senior, Intermediate and Junior races, Pony races, Myanmar traditional equestrian performances, sword display competitions and tent pegging.
In the international equestrian segment, competitions featured Children’s Show Jumping, Junior Show Jumping for riders under 14, Youth Show Jumping for those aged 14 to 18 and 16 to 21, Senior Show Jumping for those over 21, and Cross-Country Open Class for riders aged 16 and above. Over 100 equestrians from states and regions across Myanmar are participating in the event, which will continue until 16 February. — Arkar Linn/KZL
