Pinlebu, 29 April
Two people were killed in a fire that broke out in a village in Pinlebu Township, Sagaing Region early this morning, according to a source from a local fire brigade.
The fire is attributed to have started from ember in the kitchen of a house where four women reside in Kuntoung Village at around 4 a.m. today. Upon receiving phone information, firefighters rushed to the scene of the fire and took about an hour to completely put out the blaze. The house owner named Daw Mya Yin, 65 years old and her daughter Ma Zin Mar Win, 27 years of age were burnt to death while two women managed to escape from the burning house. But the escaped women sustained wounds from the fire and were receiving medical treatment at a public hospital in Pinlebu.
The fire destroyed a two-storey house made of wood and an investigation into the case is ongoing by the local police station.—Myo Lwin (IPRD)
