THE Myanmar rowing team returned to Yangon yesterday evening after an impressive performance at the 2024 ICF Dragon Boat World Cup and the World Dragon Boat Champi­onships, which took place from 24 October to 3 November in Yichang, China, and Puerto Princesa, the Philippines. They achieved a remarkable haul of six gold medals and three silver medals.

 

The delegation led by Pres­ident U Thaung Htike Min of the Myanmar Rowing Federation comprised officials, coaches, and 20 male and female rowers, totalling 23 participants. Upon their return, they received a hero’s welcome, with officials, family, and fans gathering to celebrate their achievements.

 

In the qualifying round of the World Dragon Boat Cham­pionships, the Myanmar row­ing team secured third place. It has been announced that 12 countries will compete in the World Dragon Boat Champi­onships scheduled for 9 and 10 August 2025 in Chengdu, China. — Arkar Lin/ TRKM
