Myanmar badminton icon Thet Htar Thuzar won the Uganda International Series 2020 with a 2-1 win over India’s Aakarshi Kashyap in the final match of the tourney held yesterday in Kampala, Uganda.
The match was an entertaining one with Thet Htar Thuzar working hard for a win.
The first match ended with a 21-14 win for Thet Htar Thuzar. She lost the second match by 16-21.
The third match proved thrilling as the Indian player followed Thet Htar Thuzar with just a point difference from the start.

But after dominating by 18-17, Thet Htar Thuzar carried point 18 to reach full 21 points, cutting out her opponent by a 21-18 result to win the championship.
In the round of 32, Thet Htar Thuzar beat Maldivian badminton player Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq with a decisive result of 2-0 (21-15 and 21-9). In the round of 16, Thet Htar Thuzar upended Iran’s Soraya Aghaeihajiagha by 2-0 (21-19 and 23-21).
In the quarterfinal, Thet Htar Thuzar met with Slovak player Martina Repiska and beat her (10-21, 21-15 and 21-13), and in the semifinal Thet Htar prevailed over Mauritius player Kate Foo Kune by 21-15 and 21-12. — Lynn Thit (Tgi)
