Thai gov’t deports undocumented migrant workers to Kawthoung

Kaw Thoung 21 June

A total of 65 Myanmar migrant workers including 55 men and nine women were sent back from Thailand through the Kawthoung border gate on Thursday evening for not holding proper documentation.

Myanmar labour attaché U Kyaw Soe Wai brought the Myanmar migrant workers to Kawthoung via the sea route and handed them over to the authorities in Kaw Thoung.

The Thai government had arrested them as they did not have work permits, and were found holding expired border passes.

The authorities including police, immigration and labour officers provided necessary assistance to them. The returnee workers are sent to their places of origin after being provided with health care.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
