Bilateral trade between Myanmar and Bangladesh from borders stood at US$17.8 million as of 5 July in the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-2019, down by $8.544 million or 32.43 per cent, from the corresponding period last 2017-2018 FY, the Ministry of Commerce reported.

More than 110 enterprises, including four domestic businesses, invested US$208 billion in the Special Economic Zones (SEZs), under the Special Economic Zone Law, as of 10 July in the current fiscal year, according to figures released by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration.

FROM  1  October  to  5  July  in  this fiscal year (FY), the value of border  trade  reached  US$  8.02  billion,  recording  an  increase  of  $1.15  billion  compared  to  the  same  period  of  last  fiscal  year,  according to the Ministry of Com-merce.

CURRENTLY,  the  demand  for  peanuts  exceeds  supply  at  the  Monywa  Wholesale  Centre  in  Sagaing  Region,  said  U  Thein  Oo,  owner  of  Myanmar  Thein  Wholesale Shop in Monywa.

Myanmar’s exports of mineral products between 1 October and 5 July in the current financial year totalled US$1.2 billion, a decline of $245.59 million,

Earlier, Myanmar weaving businesses were passed down through generations as family businesses. But now, weaving businesses are surviving on a manageable scale in rural areas, including the Chaungzone Township of Mon State.
