Invitational sport competitions such as badminton and Sepak takraw were held at the township sports grounds in Kengtung, the capital city of Eastern Shan State since 7 February to mark the 73rd anniversary of the Union Day.
The sport activities are organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department with the sponsorship of the Deputy Commissioner. The badminton contest is categorized into two types—individuals and doubles—while Sepak takraw tourney are held in an open way. In the men’s open Sepak takraw event, Kengtung (a) beat Ethnic Group (b) and was crowned champion. The final matches of individuals and double Badminton competitions will take place on 11 February.
The prize winners will be presented awards at the celebration of 73rd anniversary of the Union Day on 12 February.—Aung Zin Myint (IPRD)
