S.Korea reports 128,714 new COVID-19 cases

South Korea recorded 128,714 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Thursday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 21,111,840, the health authorities said Friday.

 

The daily caseload was down from 137,241 in the previous day, but was higher than 112,858 tallied a week earlier, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA).

 

For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 119,857.

 

Among the newly reported infections, 464 were imported cases, lifting the total to 50,571.

 

The latest number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 453, up 35 from the previous day.

 

Fifty-eight more deaths were confirmed from the pandemic, bringing the death toll to 25,499. The total fatality rate was 0.12 percent.
