School library development discussed in Kyunsu Tsp

Kyunsy, February 3

A meeting between Myeik University Assistant Librarian Daw Hla Hla New and officials from Kyunsu Town Basic Education High School was held at the meeting hall of the school in Kyunsu township, Taninthayi region yesterday.

The meeting concentrated on measures to be taken to develop the school library.  At the meeting, Assistant Librarian Daw Hla Hla New said that Myanmar Library Association will take responsibility to develop libraries in Kyunsu and Palaw Basic Education High schools, calling for the support of school support committees, teachers and parents.

Then, the township education officer Daw Mya Win reported on the need to purchase monthly reading materials, to appeal for donations from individuals, organizations, businesses men for the sustainable development of the school libraries. 

A number of libraries in 115 schools-100 basic high schools and 15 basic primary schools, will be upgraded under school libraries development programme, jointly implemented by Myanmar Library Association and Basic Education Department, under the ministry of Education.—Sithuya Aung ( Kyunsu)
