DESPITE the production is still low, the ‘Salay’ plum which is a seasonal fruit of Magway Township has been traded well.
Salay plum is just produced this month in Magway and people enjoy its sweet taste.
“Salay plum is harvested now from farms in Magway. It is just the beginning of the season so the production is not yet plentiful. Orders are mounting but the fruit production is still low,” said an official from Shwe Thun Eain fruit wholesale trading centre in Kyaukpadaung Township.
Based at Kyaukpadaung, Salay plums are transported to all regions and states and most orders go to Mawlamyine Township.
“Orders are placed from different regions and states but the major destination is Mawlamyine. The price is pretty good. It can’t say about the production now but can predict at late December,” she added. — Thit Taw/ZS
