A WATERFALL near Saphogyi Village in Kani Township, Sagaing will be created as a public relaxation area, according to a source from the regional branch of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Accompanied by regional lawmakers and officials from the DHT and the Electricity Supply Enterprise, Sagaing Regional Minister for Plan-ning and Finance U Soe Oo made a field trip to the waterfall to evaluate whether it can be established as a resort for visitors, said U Aung Thu Oo, Dep-uty Staff Officer from the DHT’s regional branch.
“The waterfall is about 37 miles from Monywa, the region’s commercial city. Road transportation to Kani from Monywa is convenient for the visi-tors. But the waterfall is located about two miles away from Meedin Village so holidaymakers will face poor road transportation. The regional min-ister visited there to instruct concerned officials to repair the damaged road section. Presently, only residents and government employees go to the waterfall to relax their physical and mental stresses,” he added. Officials from the line depart-ments will conduct a feasibility study to improve road transportation in order to attract local and foreign travellers to the waterfall.
