DURING the first three months of 2026, a total of 888 traffic accidents occurred nationwide, resulting in 486 fatalities and 1,208 injuries, according to the Ministry of Transport.

 

Yangon Region recorded the highest number of acci­dents during this period, with 199 incidents, leading to 273 injuries and 96 deaths.

 

Ayeyawady Region report­ed the second-highest number of accidents, with 135 cases, in which 191 people were injured and 64 lost their lives. Mean­while, on the Yangon-Manda­lay Expressway, 46 accidents were recorded, causing 52 in­juries and 30 deaths.

 

During the same period in 2025, there were 856 traffic accidents nationwide, with a total of 1,265 injuries and 453 fatalities. — ASH/KZL
