Rising floodwaters from Ayeyawady River affect residents in Htigyaing

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology’s observations at 8 a.m. on 16 July, the water level of the Ayeyawady River reached 871 centimeters, 41 centimeters above its danger level.

Some residents from homes in low-lying areas were evacuated to temporary relief camps and their relatives’ houses starting from 16 July. The ward and village administrators assisted the evacuees in the relocation process. 1,030 flood victims throughout the township are currently taking shelter at the temporary rescue camps.—Ye Lin Tun (IPRD)
