Remote town hosts invitational football contest to promote unity among national brethren

The final match of an invitational men’s open football contest was held in conjunction with a prize awarding event at the township sports ground in Nagmon, Kachin State on 23 December.

In the final game, Khanang FC beat Khakabo FC 1-0 and was crowned the champion trophy. Next, Kachin State Legislator U Chang Tan Khin explained the purpose of the competition, saying the event is held with the aim of promoting national unity through sports and producing outstanding footballers. He then gave words of encouragement to the athletes. A traditional cultural troupe representing Rawang ethnic group also performed entertainment to the audiences.

Afterwards, the Kachin State MP and concerned officials presented cash, champion trophy and individual awards to prize winning players and teams.—Hsan Nyunt (Putao)
