Police destroy poppy plantations in Loilem Township

The police destroyed acres of poppy plantations in Loilem Township in Southern Shan State on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs. 


An anti-drug squad from Mongpang police stationannihilated almost 4 acres of poppy fields about two miles south of Taungnaut Village and nearly four acres of poppy plantations about three furlongs south of Yeewin Village in Loilem Township in southern Shan State on 12 November. At the same time, another combined squad eradicated around seven acres of poppy plantations near Hsaikan Village in Loilem Townships, Shan State.


The Myanmar Police Force has been stepping up campaigns to destroy poppy cultivation throughout the country in cooperation with people, local authorities and civil society organizations.—MOHA
