Over 8,000 acres of farmland in Bhamo Tsp. flooded

The torrential rains caused the upper Ayeyawady River in Kachin State to increase its water level up to 1222 cm exceeding the danger level. Accordingly, a total of over 10,000 were inundated by water in Bhamo District.

 

A total of 8560 acres of farmland belonging to 2756 farmers from 31 wards and villages were destroyed due to the rise of the water in the Ayeyawady River, according to the statement of Bhamo Farmland Management Team.

 

A total of 8203 acres of paddy fields and 348 acres of corn fields were inundated by water in Bhamo Township. Similarly, a total of 5759 acres of farmland from eight village-tracts and 36 acres in Myohla in Shweku Township and a total of 504 acres of monsoon paddy fields in Mansi Township were also destroyed.
