The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation continues its efforts to combat illegal timber trade through various enforcement measures, including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS), in collaboration with local residents.

According to statistics submitted by Forest Departments from Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, states, and regions, a total of 63.94 tons of illegal timber were seized between 9 and 15 March. The confiscated timber included 18.45 tons of teak, 8.40 tons of hardwoods, and 57.50 tons of other types of wood.

In addition to the timber, authorities also seized 12 vehicles and logging machinery used in the illegal operations. 16 individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizures.— MNA
