More than 1,600 metric tonnes of food supplies have arrived in Afghanistan after a prolonged delay, the World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan announced, as reported by local media Tolo news on Thursday.

According to the report, the shipment will provide nutritional assistance to around 80,000 children and 25,000 mothers across the country.

The WFP said the arrival of the food supplies will support its nutrition programs for vulnerable women and children in Afghanistan, where millions continue to rely on humanitarian assistance.
