Myanmar will participate in the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam (CLMV) Cooperation Summit and the Ayeyawady‑Chao Phraya‑Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, both to be hosted by Vietnam.

EXTRAORDI­NARY and Plen­ipotentiary Am­bassador-Designate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Mr Ngu Anh Duc presented his Cre­dentials to U Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at the Presi­dential Palace Reception Hall in Nay Pyi Taw yes­terday morning.

The Vietnamese ambassador saluted the flags of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Socialist Repub­lic of Vietnam at the Hon­orary Hall in the Presi­dential Palace Reception Hall. The ambassador also returned the salute of the Guard of Honour, and the national anthems of both countries were played.

Vietnamese Ambas­sador Mr Ngu Anh Duc presented his Creden­tials to President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing.

At the meeting, My­anmar and Vietnam reaf­firmed their commitment to strengthening diplo­matic relations, fostering friendly ties, and enhanc­ing cooperation. They frankly exchanged views on the successful holding of the free and fair multi­party democratic general election in Myanmar.

They emphasized Viet­nam’s appreciation and pride regarding the gov­ernment led by President U Min Aung Hlaing, which emerged in pursuit of the wishes of the people and is currently undertaking the responsibilities of the State, the prospects for further deepening coop­eration between the two countries in trade, in­vestment, and economic development, Vietnam’s intention to further ex­pand cooperation with Myanmar in regional collaboration and friend­ship; and the prospects for Vietnam hosting the Cambodia-Laos-Myan­mar-Vietnam Cooper­ation (CLMV) Summit and the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Econom­ic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, with Myanmar participating in these summits.

Their discussions fo­cused on the prospects for promoting the tour­ism sector through peo­ple-to-people friendship and goodwill between the two countries, the exchange of goodwill vis­its by leaders and senior officials of Myanmar and Vietnam, the possibility of enhancing parliamen­tary cooperation between the two countries as part of political cooperation, and the prospects for fur­ther strengthening mul­tifaceted cooperation in various sectors between the two countries.

Also present at the meeting were Union Min­ister at the President’s Office U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for For­eign Affairs U Tin Maung Swe, Director-General of the Protocol Department U Thet Tun, the Vietnam­ese ambassador to My­anmar and his wife, and officials.
