Myanmar rowers are scheduled to take part in nine events of the rowing contest involved in the XIX Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou of the People’s Republic of China from 23 September to 8 October.

 

“Myanmar rowers will participate in six events namely the 200-metre, 500-metre and 1000-metre men’s and women’s 10-oar events. They have taken a one-month break after the SEA Games, and they are now under training at the camp. They hope to secure medals in the coming Asian Games,” said President of the Myanmar Rowing Federation U Thaung Htaik Min.

 

Yesterday morning, President of the Sports Media Federation U Nyan Tun, vice presidents and executives viewed the training of rowers at the Wushu training hall of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Yangon) and spoke words of encouragement to them.

 

Myanmar Wushu athletes will take part in the women’s Jianshu/Qiangshu event, Nanquan/Nandao event, Taiji­quan/Taijijian events and the men’s Tai­jiquan/Taijijian event.

 

Myanmar sports contingent plans to compete in the men’s and women’s foot­ball, rowing, Wushu, archery, e-sports, Sepak Takraw and Taekwondo events in the XIX Asian Games. — Bala Soe/TTA
