Myanmar Navy seize massive haul of meth pills in Kawthoung

The Myanmar Navy arrested seven fishermen along with massive haul of methamphetamine tablets from a boat in the Andaman Sea in Kawthoung Township, Taninthayi Region on 26 April.

A military vessel from the Myanmar Navy led by Captain Thaung Htoo intercepted a suspicious boat named “Aung Pyaeson-1” in the Andaman Sea while performing law enforcement activities. Myanmar navy personnel found seven fishermen with high-grade crystal methamphetamine weighing 1,238 kilograms which were concealed in tea packets from the boat. The boat made of wood is 90 ft. long, 14 ft. wide and 7 ft. draught. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is Ks. 3095 million.

 

The confiscated drugs and fishermen were handed over to an anti-drug squad in Kawthoung. In connection with the case, action is being taken against the drug carriers by the local police station.—Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
