MYANMAR participated in the UNESCO Transforming Education Summit +4 on System Transformation and Resilience for SDG4, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, on 10 July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.
The summit opened with addresses by UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J Mohammed, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Education ministers and deputy ministers led panel discussions on education in conflict-affected areas, inclusive digital transformation, teaching quality, climate education, inclusiveness and gender equality, skills, employment and lifelong learning.
The meeting reviewed progress since the 2022 Transforming Education Summit, accelerated efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), and strengthened cooperation on education beyond 2030.
Myanmar was represented by a delegation led by Chargé d’Affaires ad interim and Ambassador U Kyaw Nyunt Oo. The summit was attended by education ministers, deputy ministers and senior representatives from 37 countries, UN agencies, international organizations and civil society. — ASH/KNN
