MYANMAR participated in the UNESCO Transforming Education Summit +4 on System Transformation and Resilience for SDG4, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, on 10 July, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced.

 

The summit opened with addresses by UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany, UN Deputy Secre­tary-General Amina J Mohammed, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Education ministers and deputy ministers led panel discussions on education in conflict-affected areas, in­clusive digital transformation, teaching quality, climate education, inclusiveness and gender equality, skills, employment and lifelong learning.

 

The meeting reviewed progress since the 2022 Transforming Education Summit, accelerated efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), and strength­ened cooperation on education beyond 2030.

 

Myanmar was represented by a dele­gation led by Chargé d’Affaires ad interim and Ambassador U Kyaw Nyunt Oo. The summit was attended by education minis­ters, deputy ministers and senior repre­sentatives from 37 countries, UN agencies, international organizations and civil society. — ASH/KNN
