A total of eight municipal stalls in the Danyingone market will be sold through the tender system, according to the Markets Department of the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).
“We will sell three-storey two-unit building and four-storey one-unit building. The width of the stalls will depend on the height and type of the building,” said an official from the Markets Department.
The shops can be purchased from the department till 15 August. Application forms and the necessary documents need to be submitted by 16 September.
The Danyingone Wholesale Market is a joint venture between the YCDC and the Myanmar Agro Exchange Public Limited. MAEX began construction work on the project in 2017, with an investment of K99.8 billion.
The new market comprises four buildings and a parking lot for 2,500 vehicles. It will have an area where fruits and vegetables can be washed, a building to sell dried fish, a cold storage for meat and fresh fish, a wholesale centre for farmers, a petrol station, rest rooms for staff, and a recreation centre for customers.
The market has been designed to help farmers sell their produce directly to customers. Other wholesale markets for agricultural products are also being constructed in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Muse. —Zwe
