Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn left Yangon for Kunming of Yunnan Province in China yesterday to attend the 5th Lancang-Mekong Audiovis­ual Week (LMAW), which will take place from 17 to 20 June in Kunming, Yuxi city, Yunnan Province, the People’s Republic of China. The ministerial officials saw him off at Yangon International Airport.

 

The Union minister was accompanied by Ministry of Information’s Permanent Secretary U Win Kyaw Aung, Director-Gen­eral of Myanma Radio and Television U Ye Naing and officials from the Information Ministry.

 

Arriving at the Kunming airport, the Union minister and party were welcomed by officials from Yunnan Media Group.

 

The 5th LMAW is jointly hosted by the National Radio and Television Administra­tion of China, the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province with the aim of achieving Lancang-Mekong audiovisual cooperation and further promot­ing audiovisual exchanges and cooperation in six countries of Lancang-Mekong region, contributing to the accelerated construction of an Asian community with a shared future to enhance mutual understanding and trust among the peoples of China and South and Southeast Asian countries by showcasing their unique intangible cultural heritages. It also seeks to preserve, innovate, and develop the civilizations of these countries through cooperation. — MNA/KZL
