THE Department of Rural De­velopment under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural De­velopment in Mogaung Town­ship, Mogaung District, Kachin State, in cooperation with the Township Forest Department, held an awareness talk at Nyaungdaw Village yesterday morning. The event aimed at raising awareness and knowl­edge among rural residents on forest fire prevention, smoke re­duction, environmental conser­vation and waste management.

 

Under the topic “Useful Knowledge on Environmen­tal Conservation”, Township Staff Officer Daw Khin May Win elaborated on forest fire prevention, smoke reduction measures, proper waste dis­posal, environmental pollution, indoor pollution, various com­municable diseases that may arise from pollution, preventive measures and related dos and don’ts.

 

Officials from the Township Forest Department delivered talks on the benefits of reduc­ing plastic bag consumption, different types of waste and environmental conservation awareness. Village elders and residents from Nyaungdaw Village raised questions on matters they wished to know, and the responsible officials provided clarifications.
