Magway Region sees record Covid-19 cases

84 news covid-19 cases were reported in Magway Region on Tuesday, bringing the total number of confirmed virus cases in the region to 2,310, according to the Department of Public Health.


There are still people in the region who are free of the virus and are in good health and have been discharged from the hospital. The confirmed virus patients on December 22 were from Aunglan, Magway, Salin, Pakokku, Myaing, Sedoktaya, Chauk, Pwintbyu, Kanma, Taungdwingyi, Myothit, Yesagyo, Gangaw, Yenangoung, Seikphyu and Natmauk Townships.


A contact tracing process is being conducted to expose people who had close contact with the coronavirus patients. Most of the virus patients are returnees, the truck drivers and their assistants, said Dr Khin Maung Than, assistant director of the region's Department of Public Health.


There are 2,310 confirmed coronavirus cases in Magway Region, with five fatalities.
