Improvements for the Mezali Bridge on the Pathein-Monywa Road in Pyintbyu Township, Magway Region have been completed as scheduled. The suspension bridge built by Construction Group-3 under the Ministry of Construction opened to pedestrians and vehicles with 60 tons of weight in conjunction with an inauguration ceremony on 28 October. The bridge is 400 ft long, and has a 3 ft long pedestrian walkway on each side and can withstand up to 60 tons of weight.
The width of the steel box girder type bridge was extended to 24 ft from 20 ft The facility including an approach was upgraded at a cost of Ks2.7 billion of the Union Budget. Residents from nearby areas and vehicles can now use the new bridge in all seasons with greater ease, thereby contributing to improving their education, health, economy and social status. Road transport will no longer be a headache for local people who once experienced travel delays and access barriers to other areas. In addition, the bridge is expected to promote development of trade in the region, facilitate swift flow of goods, and reduce transportation charges. People from various corners of the country will be able to visit some significant pagodas and attraction sites such as Mann Shwe Set Taw Pagoda and Shin Pin Set Kein Te Pagoda.
An opening ceremony of a new bridge crossing over the Yaw Creek has been held in Ashae Kantwin Village, Seikphyu Township in Magway Region recently. The Yaw Creek Bridge (Kantwin) was built by Construction Group – 2 of the Department of Road under the Ministry of Construction and officially opened to traffic on 11 October. Construction of the bridge began on 5 June 2017 and was finished in September 2019. The bridge measuring 900 ft long and 30 ft wide was constructed mostly from reinforced concrete. Pedestrian walkway on each side of the facility is 3 ft wide and the bridge can withstand up to 60 tons of weight. Approaches to the bridge were extended to 34 ft wide so that vehicles and pedestrians can traverse the bridge in a safe and secure manner.
A small rural suspension bridge was also inaugurated in Saw Township, Magway Region on 21 September, according to an official from the Community-Driven Development. The suspension bridge measures 102 ft in length, 5 ft in width and 18 ft. in height and was built with more than Ks24 million funded under the Community-Driven Development and contributed by local people. The bridge is expected to help facilitate better flow of commodities to other parts of the country, thereby contributing to uplifting the livelihood and living standard of the local people from not only Saw Township but also Kanpetlet Township in Chin State. The inauguration ceremony of the bridge was attended by the regional MP, government officials, and residents. Those present were entertained with traditional dance by Chin ethnic cultural troupe from Kanpetlet Township.
The Ayeyawady Housing with a capability to withstand an earthquake of a magnitude of 7 on the Richter Scale was built on a land plot near Phan Khar Myay golf course, about 700 ft from Natmauk Road and the apartments are being sold through an installment system, according to an official from the housing project. “The buyer needs to open a bank account at KBZ Bank and must deposit 30 per cent down payment for the apartment. The buyer can pay 30 per cent down payment by six phases.
The remaining amount can be paid during five years. We spent the best quality of construction materials in an attempt to withstand an earthquake of a magnitude of 7 on the Richter Scale,” said U Han Maung, the owner of the Ayeyawady Housing. Out of 110 rooms, about 60 apartments have already been sold and the remaining 52 rooms are being sold through an installment system.
The housing complex includes a minimarket, swimming pools, playgrounds, park, a religious edifice and 24-hour security system, said Ko Han Cho, an official from the housing. The apartment measuring 876 square feet contains one bedroom, a master bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen will be sold for Ks32.5 million for cash down system and Ks35 million for installment system. An apartment measuring 1220 square feet with a master bedroom, two bedrooms, kitchen, a living room and a prayer room will cost Ks42.5 million for cash down system and Ks45 million for installment system.
