Kayan ethnic martial artist Antoniyar secures 3rd ONE Championship win

TWENTY-four-year-old Kayan ethnic mixed martial artist Bozhena Antoniyar defeated Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen, 29, of Viet Nam and the United States at the ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ bout on Friday at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This is the third ONE Championship victory for Antoniyar. She previously defeated Shwe Sin, 23, of Myanmar, and Audreylaura “Ice Comet” Boniface, 29, of Malaysia to claim the title.

Antoniyar competed against Nguyen in the women’s atomweight division of the ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ event, and the match was refereed by Motohiro Tsuruwa.

In the match, Nguyen relied on her diverse Muay Thai striking tactics. But, it was Antoniyar who found success with her boxing.

After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, the referee raised the hand of Antoniyar, and declared her the winner via a split decision.

Antoniyar is training out of Bali MMA and Team Toto, and now has 3 wins and 1 loss. Nguyen is training out of Tiger Muay Thai, and has recorded 5 wins and 4 losses.

A total of 19 countries — Myanmar, Viet Nam, the US, Australia, Brazil, China, Finland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand — participated in the ‘ONE: Masters of Destiny’ event, according to Canon Daily. — Kyaw Khin
